S.M.S. SERVICE (Service Management System)
It is now also possible to upgrade from B.M.S. SERVICE to S.M.S. SERVICE. This major step forward gives the end user the possibility to avoid inefficiency and losses due to work stoppage by allowing batteries to communicate their status.This system is linked to a mobile phone modem that transmits the data of your battery/batteries to a central database. Both the S.M.S. module as well as the central database are intelligent and will recognise critical situations. The system is intended to extend the life of the battery and prevent battery failure by proactive monitoring and intervention.
The system comes in two versions: ‘Real Time’ (the mobile phone modem is located on the machine) and ‘Dynamic’ (only one mobile phone modem is needed due to the use of a charger network). In addition, S.M.S. technology makes it possible to speak about equivalent cycles. Parameters such as charging depth, temperature and acid level allow us to convert the used number of cycles to nominal cycles. This has several advantages for the customer. A discharge of 40% thus only counts for approximately one half cycle, a discharge of 80% for a complete cycle. And the guarantee does not lapse in the case of a discharge deeper than 80%.
If your battery is equipped with an S.M.S. module together with one of the following monitoring or service formulas, the guarantee for batteries is extended:

Traditional batteries (CK): 7 years or 1,300 equivalent cycles*

Gel traction batteries (CO): 4 years or 800 equivalent cycles*

Monitoring formula: In the case of events requiring action (adding water, incorrect battery use ...) an e-mail will be sent with a battery report as attachment to the designated person at your company. You can also log in to the central database and request online reports for your battery/batteries. You take the initiative yourself, when the battery requires attention.

Intervention formula: This is an extension of the monitoring contract in which we provide all the required maintenance except for adding water. If the battery "announces" that it requires an intervention, we will come on site to address problems before they occur.

Full-service formula: This formula goes still further: from now on you need no longer worry about adding water. We are able to keep the cost of this extra service low because the battery itself indicates when it requires water, and thus we never have to make unnecessary trips.

This scheme shows you how battery- and user information leaves the batteries in the lifttrucks and ends up in a database through a network of chargers and a GSM network over the Internet.
